ISO format for date is YYYY-MM-DD. This is the only date format used in ChemGenDB. It offers several advantages:

• is suitable for sharing data among really international partners (no month/date confusion)
• alphabetically sorted text fields or file names (in a fixed length format) containing ISO date are also sorted by date
